Augmented reality for architects

Augmented reality devices such as Microsoft HoloLens provides unique possibility to view computer generated content integrated in the real environment. It could be very interesting for architects planning an negotiating changes with customers. For example, building separation walls in large office space or discussing furniture placement.

Using augmented reality technology could improve customer experience and as a result

  • increase chances to convince the customer to place the order or win the tender
  • reduce possibilities for misunderstanding and as a result unexpected expenses and negative customer experience

For these reasons we developed technology to import existing 3D models made with architectural design software such as for example ArchiCAD in to HoloLens. These models can then be viewed together with customer while visiting the venue to renew/modify. Such approach does not introduce additional work for architects and save time during venue visits and discussions.

The video illustrates how the application looks like from inside the HoloLens (it is a live video capture). There is a set of customer specific furniture pieces available for selection and placement. Using gesture, the architect or customer can place object in room and see them from different perspective freely moving in the room.
